The Mid-Year Mirror: Where Am I With Allah?

ree
So, where are you headed? Qur’an 81:26

Ramadan swept through our hearts like a soft, cleansing wind. Dhul Hijjah came bearing the weight of reward, the most beloved days to Allah.

And now? They have both passed.

We step into the second half of the year holding something heavier than before: The question of change.

  • Did anything shift?

  • Did the Qur’an open more?

  • Did the sins pause, or pause longer?

  • Did the tongue soften?

  • Did the heart stay?

Or did we return to routine?

The hurried scrolls.

The empty du’as.

The busyness that leaves no space for barakah.

This post is not to shame you. It is to remind you that Allah does not ask for perfection. He asks for sincerity. And sincerity does not wait for another sacred season.

It starts now.

Signs You Have Changed More Than You Think

You still feel unsettled.

That restlessness, that ache to be closer, is not a weakness.

It is your fitrah knocking.

You feel guilty when you miss what you once did. That is not regression. That is awareness. That is light still flickering.

You want to return. Even if you do not know how, the fact that you want to is already a step.

Three Gentle Action Steps to Realign With Allah

1. Anchor One Daily Act of Worship and Make it Yours

Pick one thing that feels doable and soul-anchoring.

  • 2 rak’ahs of duha

  • 5 minutes of Qur’an recitation

  • Istighfar every time you feel overwhelmed

Whatever it is, own it.

Make it your bare minimum.

Your way of saying, “Ya Rabb, I’m still here.”

2. Write a Mid-Year Du’a Letter or Journal

Take a page and begin with: "Ya Rabb, here’s where I am. And here’s who I want to become..."

Pour it out. Be honest. Then keep that letter where you will see it, and reread it in Muharram.

3. Replace One Scroll with Soul

Next time you reach for your phone mindlessly, pause. Open a Qur’an app, a beneficial podcast, or close your eyes and send a du’a instead. One swap at a time is enough to redirect an entire heart.

Final Reflection

Maybe not much changed after Ramadan. Maybe Dhul Hijjah felt like a blur. But the fact that you are reading this, the fact that your heart still cares, is a sign that you are still in this journey, still in the race, still in His Mercy.

It is not too late. It never is with the One who says, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you.Qur’an 40:60
